How can we achieve greatness?
I have been asking this question to myself for as long as I can remember. It all starts at a very young age when we realise that winning has its benefits. It could be getting a praise from your parents, your teachers or your peers. We all feel this energy that sense of pride when we have accomplished something more. I remember when I started to train in basketball at a very early age and as soon as I learned the basics I had to win. The sense that when you make the shot and people cheer for you – you have accomplished something. Just one shot can make you feel that way. In our daily lives we have bigger and smaller wins but when we do have them we achieve greatness. Hold on, making a shot in the basketball game can achieve greatness? Yes, a small victory, a small piece of greatness, but that is where we start to build the muscle. The muscle that will get stronger every day and will let us achieve greatness on a daily basis. Wouldn’t it be great to have this feeling every day? The feeling that you have accomplished something that feels and is a victory.
I used to have a belief that if I get something good the universe will balance it out and take something away from me. You know – too good to be true. Do you think that too? This feeling kept me from getting what I want, getting more out of my life. You would ask, did it really happen? Did universe balance it out when I got something more? I most definitely saw it that way but it wasn’t true. I was the one who was focusing on the balance and my mind was telling me that ‘you can’t have this all – there must be a balance’. This is what we do on a daily basis, we say to ourselves that we don’t deserve it and then we find ways how to sabotage our success. We must break this pattern of self-sabotage before we can achieve more.
